Description

Founded in 1984, France Parkinson is a nonprofit organization recognized as being of public interest, entirely dedicated to Parkinson's disease. Today, it relies on 900 volunteers spread across 90 departmental committees throughout France, as well as a team of 27 staff members. The association pursues five major missions. It supports and accompanies people with Parkinson's and their loved ones, notably through helplines, support groups, a legal helpline, as well as dedicated programs such as Pas à Pas avec Parkinson for people with the disease and A2PA for caregivers. It informs and trains on the disease, its treatments and available support, for the general public as well as healthcare professionals, through educational materials, on-site training sessions (the association is a Qualiopi-certified training organization), webinars, and conferences. It raises public awareness and engages the media to fight misconceptions and share the realities of the disease, notably on the occasion of World Parkinson's Day on April 11th. It advocates with public authorities to uphold the rights of people with Parkinson's and improve their care, participating in coalitions such as France Assos Santé and the Collectif MND (a coalition of associations focused on neurodegenerative diseases). Finally, it funds, encourages and promotes research, supporting numerous projects in medical sciences as well as humanities and social sciences every year.
